Challenge + Solution.
For this project, we were tasked with creating primary and secondary packaging for an organic, non-GMO heirloom seed company located in Northern California.
The brand identity for this company must feel high end, natural, and authentic—with the origin of the seeds being the main component for design.
This company specifically focuses on heirloom seed varieties of corn and beans from Mexico.
I drew inspiration from traditional Mexican textiles and dress designs, which are seen in the illustrations. The outer packaging was created out of Kraft paper, while the seed packaging was created out of card stock with plantable and compostable tea bags to plant the seeds.
Color Palette.
Light green, dark green, and brown were used for the logo to emphasize a natural and organic tone.
For the illustrations, however, bright colors were used to pay homage to the roots of where the seeds came from.
